Cyclotourism

Athletic Activity

The number of people living within grand urbanized zones, to the beat of an ever changing and exhausting rhythm, is continuously growing. In the same manner, the number of people practicing some type of sport, recreational activity, or hobby in a closed spaced has increased significantly, as typified by workout gyms and fitness centers. All of these activities are undertaken with the goal of better caring for one’s body.

In this framework, cyclotourism enters into the picture. As yet another weekend sport, cyclotourism draws followers who wish to breathe new air, live by a different rhythm, search out new experiences, and get to know new places while making new friends. There are also those who go beyond weekend outings and ride during the week in both day and nighttime hours, traversing courses designed for nighttime travel in a calmer atmosphere. While riding serves as training for some, others are simply looking to improve their physical condition or integrate the activity into a healthier lifestyle.

Link to Nature

In spite of our current reality, immersed in complete urbanity, there does exist the possibility of creating new spaces. By doing so, we are able to come closer to nature in a novel manner, to enjoy our wild surroundings through a new rhythm and perspective. The possibility to discover and enjoy new places exists, and in the process of uncovering these sites, we are able to travel amongst new vegetation, fauna, climates and countryside, allowing us to simply enjoy the environment that surrounds us, reaching our desired goal.

Therapuetic Activity

In the field of psychology, games and recreational activities have ceased to be an end in and of themselves. In actuality, such activities have been transformed into therapeutic fields or disciplines capable of lifting the human spirit and actively engaging the participant in his or her own character analysis. Such analyses generally lead to a better understanding of one’s personal character, bringing about changes in factors which had previously been seen as obstacles

In addition, this earth suffices as a therapeutic instrument. The act of cycling, in itself, if coordinated and executed in a particular manner, offers positive effects in the sense of what is done to both the mental health and quality of life of those who participate.

Probing the limits of the body, passing silently through the countryside, taking paths that lead to personal reflection, finding ourselves and resolving problems that allow us to advance forward, meeting new people and making the effort to understand one another beyond personal differences, establishing objectives on a group level, exposing oneself to personal contact. All of these factors are present within cyclotourism. Within a number of athletic and recreational activities, cyclotourism proves to be a facilitator of positive changes, both in the health and development of the participant.
